My AC clutch/compressor is short-cycling. One-two seconds on ... My AC clutch/compressor is short-cycling. One-two seconds on, 5-6 seconds off. The same cycle regardless of the blower (fan) speed. When the compressor kicks in, the gauge reading (pressure) drops - but I haven't seen the exact numbers. After the second or two when it disengages, the gauge shoots up. AC shop says its (supposedly) full on R134.

I imagine that the pressures on the low and high side are proportional and that by adding freon and increasing the pressure on the low I proportionally increased the pressure on the high side causing a high pressure shutdown on the compressor.
